Wildcat Fans Pack Room During Luncheon

WAYNE – The inaugural Wildcat Fan Luncheon for the 2018-19 Wayne State College athletic season drew fall coaches, WSC athletic department staff and community members Tuesday.

From the back room of the Max, lunch was served and updates were heard.

Director of Athletics Mike Powicki said the luncheons are an opportunity to get coaches and staff in front of supporters.

“I know we didn’t this time have any student-athletes come,” said Powicki. “But, that’s one of those unique opportunities to that our fans like to hear from our student- athletes, interact with our student-athletes. Our fan luncheons provide an opportunity to engage a little bit and kind of hear their story, too.”

An update was provided about the Press Box Replacement project with some more painting, concrete work and touch-ups to be done. The air conditioner will be turned on as the elevator has some more work to finish before access is available to the camera deck, but when inside the facility has a great sightline and set-up.

Wildcat fall head coaches of Scott Kneifl (volleyball), Marlon Brink (cross country), Joe Cleary (women’s soccer) and Dan McLaughlin (football) all spoke.

Wayne State fans also heard from the newest head coach, being Brent Pollari and his staff as well as President Marysz Rames.

Powicki added Rice Auditorium installed a new sound system recently along with another upgrade coming soon.

“The music will sound clearer and crisper and of course our public address announcer will be heard in all areas of Rice Auditorium,” Powicki added. “The next week we’ll be adding a video board to the south end.”

A new standard scoreboard, new backboard lights, shot clocks and more will be installed.

The next scheduled Wildcat Fan Luncheon will be held at noon on Tuesday, September 25 in the back room of the Max.
