Wildcat Classic To Draw Several Collegiate Athletes For Outdoor Track & Field Competition

WAYNE – Partial teams, full-teams and unattached athletes will get their first crack at the outdoor season during the Wayne State College Wildcat Track & Field Classic this weekend.

Events will be getting underway Friday at 11 a.m. with men’s hammer throw followed by women’s along with women’s javelin throw followed by men’s (practice FB fields west of track).

Competing teams who will be represented include Briar Cliff, Dakota State University, Dordt College, Jamestown University, Midland University, Minnesota State-Mankato, Mount Marty College, Northern State University, Northwestern College, University of South Dakota, University of Sioux Falls and WSC.

All events will get underway at 11 a.m. Saturday from WSC Memorial Stadium on the LeRoy Simpson Track.

Opening field events will be pole vault, shot put, discus and long jump with others being triple jump and high jump. The pole vault and high jump competitors may go indoors pending rain.

Starting on the track will be the 10,000-meter run.

The last race (1600-meter men’s relay) is scheduled to start around 5:05 p.m. Saturday.

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s outdoor track & field team will next be in action on Friday, March 29 at the Fort Hays State Invite in Hays, Kansas.
