Wildcat Basketball Teams Close Out NSIC Regular Season With Augustana

WAYNE/SIOUX FALLS, SD – The abbreviated eight-week NSIC regular season schedule will come to an end this weekend for the Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball teams.

As the Wildcat men travel back to Sioux Falls, South Dakota for the second straight week, the Wayne State women will entertain Augustana University on Friday and Saturday, February 19-20.

In the women’s contest, WSC will host NSIC South Division leader Augustana University at 6:30 p.m. Friday night and 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The Wildcats are 6-8 overall and sixth place in the NSIC South with a 5-7 league mark while the Vikings are 9-4 overall and sitting atop the NSIC South Division at 8-3, one-half game ahead of Concordia-St. Paul.

Last weekend, WSC split home games with Southwest Minnesota State (W 74-60, L 85-49) while Augustana beat city rival Sioux Falls twice at the Sanford Pentagon 76-68 and 80-74. Last season, WSC won both matchups against the Vikings – 80-76 in Wayne and 77-67 in Sioux Falls.

To the road, the Wayne State men will also close the regular season with key NSIC South Division games at Augustana this weekend. Games are set for Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Sanford Pentagon at Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

The Wildcats enter the weekend sitting in first place in the NSIC South Division (9-3) and 9-5 overall while the Vikings are fourth place in the division at 6-5 and 8-5 overall. Last weekend, WSC won road games at Southwest Minnesota State 82-54 and 74-56 while Augustana swept their weekend series with city rival Sioux Falls at USF 67-65 and 75-66.

Last season, Augustana won both matchups against the Wildcats – 75-66 in Wayne and 74-72 in Sioux Falls.
