KEARNEY, MN/SHAWNEE, OK – Both the Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball teams will be in action this weekend taking on region opponents.
The Wayne State women will play their first official games of the season during the UNK Tourney in Kearney against a pair of MIAA teams.
WSC finished last year 15-15 (9-13 NSIC) and open against two teams they beat last year in Wayne. The Wildcats will first face Northwest Missouri State at 5:30 p.m. Friday night before ending with the host, Nebraska-Kearney Saturday around 5 p.m.

Last season, the ‘Cats topped the Bearcats 75-58 and won over the Lopers 69-52.
The other NSIC team will be Minnesota Crookston who’ll face UNK Friday night at 7 p.m. and open Saturday against NWMSU at 3:30 p.m.
For the Wildcat men, they’ll look to snap a three-game losing streak after playing top competition during the CCA Division II Tipoff Classic in Orange, California last weekend.
WSC will next play two games in Shawnee, Oklahoma against GAC opponents. A year ago, the Wildcat men started their season 1-1 after defeating Pittsburg State (95-92) but falling to Central Missouri (67-73) in Warrensburg, MO.
The ‘Cats will first play East Central (OK) at 5:30 p.m. Friday and face Oklahoma Baptist at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
The other region team will the MIAA Nebraska-Kearney men who’ll face Oklahoma Baptist Friday at 7:30 p.m. and East Central Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
