Wildcat Basketball Concludes Cross Division Competition, Friday Night Women’s Game Canceled

CROOKSTON, MN – For the second time in the past three weekends, only three games will be played on the road for the Wayne State College basketball teams.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the Friday night WSC at Minnesota Crookston NSIC women’s basketball game set for 5:30 p.m. was canceled Thursday morning due to COVID protocols.  The Wildcats are still scheduled to play at Bemidji State Saturday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.

The Wildcat women enter this weekend’s play at 7-10 and 4-9 in the NSIC South Division while Bemidji State is 10-7 and 8-5 in the NSIC North. The two teams did not face each other last season, but in the most recent meeting played December 13, 2019 in Bemidji, WSC outscored BSU in an 87-82 win.


For the Wayne State men, they’ll hit the road for the final weekend of NSIC cross-division action as the Wildcats visit Minnesota Crookston Friday evening at 5:30 p.m. (game time moved up) and Bemidji State Saturday at 5:30 p.m.

The Wildcat men are 10-7 on the season (7-4 NSIC South) entering this weekend’s play.  Minnesota Crookston is 6-13 and 3-10 in the NSIC North while Bemidji State owns records of 6-11 and 3-10 in league play. Two years ago WSC lost to both teams on the road in the most recent meetings with the ‘Cats falling 92-78 at Crookston and 90-61 in Bemidji.
