Wildcat Baseball Travels To Kansas For Six Games in Four Days, Opens NSIC Home Slate March 17

WICHITA, KS – The Wayne State College baseball team will compete in their second four-game series as well as their first week-day double header and head south after having the past two weeks off.

WSC (0-4) will compete with Newman in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday, March 3 and Sunday, March 4. Newman enters the weekend at 3-7. Saturday games are scheduled for 1/3 p.m. while Sunday games will take place at Noon/2 p.m.

The Wildcat baseball team suffered losses of 6-5 and 16-4 to Colorado Springs on February 17 and 23-7 as well as 4-1 defeats to Regis of Colorado on February 18.

Wayne State College will also visit Pittsburg State on Tuesday, March 6 at 1/3 p.m. The Gorillas enter the weekend at 9-4 and will battle with Lindenwood with a game on each day from March 2 – 4.

Just four games into the season and senior Tanner Simons has already accumulated eight hits, four being doubles and one homerun to along with four RBI. The senior from Rapids City, South Dakota has a .533 batting average and 1.000 slugging percentage.

On the mound, WSC has used 13 pitchers in 24 and two-thirds innings with a team ERA of 16.42.

The Wayne State College baseball team will open their home schedule from the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex playing back-to-back weekends in March. WSC will start their NSIC season with University of Mary on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18 at Noon and 2 p.m. each day. Also, the ‘Cats will entertain Minnesota Duluth on Saturday and Sunday, March 24-25 at Noon and 2 p.m. each day.
