Wildcat Baseball, Softball Scheduled To Take Part In Mid-Week Doubleheaders

WAYNE/SIOUX FALLS, SD – Spring sports at Wayne State College will head separate directions on Wednesday, March 27.

The Wayne State College baseball team (14-7/5-3 NSIC) will play their seventh home game in six days from the Pete Chapman Complex. Wayne State is on a five-game winning streak with two wins over Bemidji State and another three against Minnesota Duluth.

WSC will entertain University of Mary (8-12/4-4). The Marauders recently went 1-3 during a four-game series with Augustana this past weekend.

Game times are scheduled for noon and 3 p.m. Wednesday for Wildcat baseball before the team goes on the road for the next 10 games. WSC is next scheduled to host Sioux Falls on Saturday, April 13.

In 2018, Wayne State swept the four-game weekend series on a neutral field from Millard North HS. WSC won games of 8-0, 6-5, 5-4 and 12-5 over UMary.

 

For the 9-8 Wayne State College softball team, Wednesday will mark their NSIC opener after having a few rain-shortened/cancelled tournaments.

The ‘Cats will visit the 20-5 Augustana University Vikings who will also play their first league games of the season. Augie previously went 4-1 during the Missouri Western Tournament.

Game times are scheduled for 3/5 p.m. from Bowden Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Last season, the Vikings run-ruled WSC 9-1 (six) and 12-3 (five) in Wayne.
