Wildcat Baseball Snaps Three-Game Skid With Home Opener Victory

WAYNE – To open a home double header series, the Wayne State College baseball team played their fourth conference game this week.

From the WSC Pete Chapman Baseball Complex, the ‘Cats entertained Bemidji State who was also winless in conference play to enter the day.

Wayne State opened with a run during the first inning before driving in two more runs in the third. Following another two runs in the sixth for WSC, the Beavers got on the board with two runs in the seventh. Final saw the Wildcats snap a three-game conference losing streak in the 5-2 win to sit 10-7 (1-3 NSIC) while BSU fell to 1-14 (0-4) Friday afternoon.

Bryce Bisenius drove in the most runs with a homerun and three RBI as Andrew Hanson singled, doubled and drove in a run. Travis Miller singled twice, CJ Neumann doubled while Alex Logelin and Kyle Thompson both singled. Garrett Graveline accounted for a RBI.

Ryan Obrecht (2-0) picked up the win in six and two-thirds allowing two earned runs off five hits while striking out six batters, hitting two and walking one. Charles Hasty recorded his second save of the season getting the final batter to flyout.
