Wildcat Baseball Performs Home Sweep To Open Home Schedule

WAYNE – The Wayne State College baseball team closed out their home conference season opener Friday late afternoon.

Wayne State hosted Bemidji State from the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex.

Just like in game one, WSC was first on the board with a run in the opening inning. The ‘Cats brought three across the plate in the second before scoring another run in the fourth to lead 5-0. Following another run for WSC in the eighth, Wayne State posted back-to-back wins with a 6-0 victory. The ‘Cats are now 11-7 (2-3 NSIC) while the Beavers fell to 1-15 (0-5 NSIC).

Brendan Madsen recorded a single, double and RBI while Alex Logelin added a homerun and two RBI. Jake Lemar and Jake Lorenzini both doubled, Travis Miller singled twice, Kyle Thompson singled as Bryce Bisenius tallied a single and RBI.

Cade Hermann (1-0) picked up the win in five innings allowing two hits while striking out four batters and walking another two. All other pitchers worked single innings. Grant Carl and Mitch Gullikson both allowed a hit and walked one batter each as Aaron Ras and Josh Renken both allowed a hit.

The Wayne State College baseball team will continue their home weekend stretch as Minnesota Duluth comes to town. WSC will host the Bulldogs Saturday now beginning at 10 a.m. in hopes of getting one game in before the predicted rain hits the Wayne area. Sunday’s single nine-inning game is scheduled for noon.
