WAYNE – With about a month in-between a non-conference series and the NSIC home opener, the Wayne State College baseball team saw their weekend series get cut in half.
According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, head baseball coach Alex Koch announced Wednesday that the season opening four-game series scheduled for this weekend at Newman University in Wichita, Kansas has been delayed due to weather.
The teams will now play a double header with two seven-inning games on Tuesday February 23 starting at noon.
Wayne State College and Newman University were originally slated to open the season Friday, February 19 with a nine-inning game, followed by a double header on Saturday and another nine-inning game Sunday.
WSC will then be off until they host Northern State University for a three-game series on Saturday, March 20 and Sunday, March 21. The Wildcat baseball team has 35 conference games on their schedule from March 20 – May 5.
The NSIC Baseball Tourney will be May 12 – May 15 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
