Wildcat Baseball Drops Sunday Outing With USF

SIOUX FALLS, SD – A three-game series came to an end Sunday late afternoon for the Wayne State College baseball team.

Back at Sioux Falls Stadium in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, WSC competed against USF.

Only two innings showcased the scoring where the host Sioux Falls won 4-3. USF improved to 12-14 (8-14 NSIC) while the ‘Cats fell to 10-14 (9-11 NSIC).

Wayne State took the early 3-2 lead after the third before USF scored two runs in the fifth and held on for the 4-3 victory to win the series.

Brenden Madsen singled, drove in a run and scored while Alex Logelin doubled and drove in a run for WSC. Peyton Barnes singled while Connor Fiene and CJ Neumann both singled and scored as Andrew Hanson accounted for a RBI.

Ryan Obrecht (3-1) suffered the loss in five innings allowing four runs (two earned) off 10 hits while striking out four batters and walking one. Andrew Staebell worked the final three innings allowing two hits while striking out three batters.

The Wayne State College baseball team will return to the Pete Chapman Baseball Complex on Wednesday, April 21 hosting Winona State before entertaining Minnesota State-Mankato this Saturday and Sunday.
