CLEBURNE, TX – Following a season-opening win Friday afternoon, the Wayne State College baseball team went back to work the very next day closing out pool play competition.
From Cleburne, Texas, WSC took on Southern Arkansas and Oklahoma Panhandle State Saturday during the Alpine Fresh 4 HIM Classic.
During the outing with Southern Arkansas, WSC dug themselves a hole down 4-1 through three innings before driving in two runs in the top of fourth to trail 4-3. Southern Arkansas then scored five runs in the fifth before outscoring WSC 6-2 in the seventh to win 15-5.
Bryce Bisenius recorded his second homerun and scored twice while Hunter Babe, Travis Baily (two RBI) and CJ Neumann (scored) all doubled. Both Andrew Hanson and Peyton Barnes singled and drove in a run. Alex Logelin and Jake Lemar both scored.
Aaron Ras suffered the loss in two and two-thirds allowing four runs (three earned) off four hits while striking out five batters and walking three.
Ryan Obrecht worked an inning and a third allowing four runs (three earned) off three hits while striking out one batter and walking two; Ryan Petersen worked an inning allowing a run, two hits and struck out one batter; Trenton Frerichs pitched an inning walking one batter; Dylan Emanuel failed to record an out allowing three earned runs off two hits while walking one batter as Mitch Gullikson worked the final two-thirds allowing three runs (one earned) off three hits while striking out one batter.

In the final pool play contest, Oklahoma Panhandle State outscored WSC 18-12. The ‘Cats fell to 1-2 and will next face Southern Nazarene at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
