WAYNE – With only four regular season home matches on the Wayne High volleyball schedule along with a triangular match in early October, the Blue Devils played in front of the home crowd Tuesday night.
From the Wayne Jr/Sr high school gymnasium, it also marked parent’s night as WHS hosted Columbus Scotus featuring a pair of teams who entered the night undefeated.
After the Shamrocks won the opening set (25-21), Wayne High took the final three (25-15, 26-24, 25-23) during the four-set victory. WHS improves to 7-0 while Columbus Scotus fell to 5-1.
Lauren Pick dominated the net with 25 kills on 60 attempts for a .283 hit percentage while adding 17 digs for Wayne. Emily Armstrong recording a double-double with 16 kills and 13 digs as Mikaela McManigal tacked seven kills. Hailey Backer paced the team in digs with 29 to go along with three service aces, Sydney Redden tallied 21 digs, Frankie Klausen finished with 17 digs and Kiara Krusemark totaled 53 set assists.
The Wayne High volleyball team will next compete in the North Bend Invite on Saturday, September 14.
