WHS Volleyball Closes Out Home Schedule With 3-0 Victory, Secured 11th Straight Win

WAYNE – With a road match next week and conference tourney to follow prior to postseason competition, the Wayne High volleyball team closed out their home schedule Thursday.

From the main gymnasium at Wayne Community Schools, WHS welcomed in a Class C2 opponent being Crofton for just their fourth home match of the year, previously going 2-1 with sweep wins over Ponca and GACC but a loss in straight sets to Lutheran High Northeast.

Wayne High secured their third home win of the season with a 3-0 sweep over Crofton (25-15, 25-20, 25-15). WHS finished their home schedule at 3-1, improved to 19-7 and won their 11th straight match.

The Wayne JV team swept Crofton (25-20, 25-20) as the C-team lost to Crofton in three sets (16-25, 25-18, 9-15).

The Wayne Junior High volleyball teams traveled to West Point Thursday. A Team: Lost 0-3 (22-25 11-25 22-25); B Team: won 2-1 (25-11 19-25 25-16); C Team: won 2-1 (25-11 32-34 25-5) and D Team: won 3-0 (25-23 25-16 25-21).

Lauren Pick recorded 18 kills and nine digs followed by Emily Longe with six kills. Rubie Klausen had four kills and 11 digs as Sydney Redden paced the team in digs with 17 and two kills. Kiara Krusemark finished with 30 set assists and two kills.

Service aces came from Mady Sievers with two while Reagan Backer (nine digs), Redden, Klausen and Pick also had an ace. Kate Hill posted two blocks (one solo) as Sievers had a solo block.

The Wayne High volleyball team will be off until next Thursday, October 15 when the team visits Battle Creek.
