WHS Boys Golf Places Fourth, Walling Brings Home Third Place Medal

OAKLAND – Several varsity boys golf teams were in action over the weekend to open the month of May.

From the Oakland Golf Club, Wayne High participated in the Oakland-Craig Invite Saturday. With winds gusting as high as 35 mph, one hole had to be taken out of play due to golf balls blowing off the green. Without this hole, the invite was played as a 17-hole, par 68 event.

As at team, WHS finished fourth with a 337 while Tanner Walling placed third shooting a 74.

Bishop Neumann won the invite with a 312, followed by Aquinas Catholic shooting a 331 in second and Yutan placed third with a 332.

Other Blue Devil results came from Drew Sharpe shooting an 85, Bo Armstrong and Andrew Jones both finished with an 89 as Christopher Woerdemann shot a 91.

Jake Hagerbaumerof Logan View shot the individual low with a 69 followed by Rockney Peck in runner-up with a 71.

Wayne High will host their own invite on Thursday, May 6 starting at 9 a.m. from the Wayne Country Club.
