WHS Boys Golf Brings Home Runner-Up Honors, Walling Shoots Two-Under PAR On Home Course Followed By Armstrong In Second

WAYNE – With high school boys golf district competition being held in Wayne on May 17, the Wayne High boys golf teams welcomed in 15 teams during a home invitational.

From the Wayne Country Club, Wayne High hosted the ‘Mac’ Invite on Thursday.

The Wayne High boys golf team finished four strokes off the lead with a runner-up, 329. Tanner Walling was the top Blue Devil boys golfer winning his third invite in the past four tournaments (three-way tie for first, lost in tie breaker) shooting a two-under PAR 70. Bo Armstrong joined Walling on the medal stand with a second place finish after shooting a 77.

Other WHS varsity results came from Drew Sharpe (85), Camron Weaselhead (97) and Kyran Bartos (102).

Columbus Scotus was crowned team champion of the Wayne Invite with a 325, again Wayne followed in second (329), Tekamah-Herman took third (335), Columbus Lakeview placed fourth (341) and West Point-Beemer rounded out the top five teams with a 347.

Three Blue Devil JV players also participated in the Wayne Invite. Caden Wiese led the effort with a score of 115, followed by Dillon Hanau (138) and Landen Roeber (142).

The Wayne High JV boys golf team will compete in the Wakefield Invite on Friday, May 6 from the Logan Valley Golf Course starting at 9 a.m. WHS will also close out their season with competition on Monday, May 9.

The Wayne Country Club will host the B-2 District Golf Meet on Tuesday, May 17. District teams include Bennington, Blair, Boone Central, Columbus Lakeview, Fort Calhoun, Mount Michael Benedictine, O’Neill, Pierce, Schuyler, South Sioux City the host Wayne and West Point-Beemer.
