WHS Boys Bowling Season Opens With Home Victory Over Norfolk Catholic/LHNE, Blue Devil Girls And Boys At Plainview Friday

WAYNE – There was a change to the start of the Wayne High girls and boys bowling season as the Blue Devil girls will have to wait before beginning their title defense after being crowned state champions last season.

Originally, Wayne was scheduled to visit Norfolk Catholic/Lutheran High Northeast Thursday. Instead, WHS welcomed in the Norfolk Catholic/LHNE bowling team for a boys only dual.

The Blue Devil boys started slow before building moment in the fourth frame. The Wayne High bowlers put together 12 consecutive strikes to secure the win going 5-0 and winning the pinfall total, 1,038 – 710.

“I was really happy with how the guys came out and performed tonight,” said head coach Josh Johnson. “We need to build on it and be ready to go right away Friday night against a tough Plainview squad.”

Leading the way for Wayne was Brogan Foote/Jaden Dramse (236) followed by Brooks Kneifl (223), James Dorcey (210), Shayne Geidner/Jacob Anderson (210) and Calvin Starzl (159).

The second game had the host Blue Devils get out to a quick start and finish with a 930-597 victory. Calvin Starzl paced the way for the Blue Devils with a 220. James Dorcey, Brooks Kneifl/Jacob Anderson, Shayne Geidner, and Brogan Foote/Jaden Dramse all finished with games of 171 to help lead the Blue Devils to the 5-0 victory.

After the individual games, the Blue Devils led Norfolk Catholic 16-0 and the Baker game found the two teams battling back and forth with Norfolk Catholic throwing four strikes in a row at the end to eke out a 166-162 victory.

The Blue Devil boys held onto the 16-5 victory in the dual to start 1-0 on the season.

Next up for the Wayne High bowling program will be a road game at Plainview for the girls and boys starting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, December 3. WHS will also compete in their first tournament next Saturday, December 11 from Kings Lanes in Norfolk.
