CRETE/PALMER – The opening two rounds of Class B and C Senior American Legion state tournament baseball action was underway over the weekend.
Opening round scores from Crete on Saturday saw Central City defeat Columbus Lakeview, 6-0; Alliance top Arlington, 3-2; Hickman defeat Broken Bow, 11-4 and Roncalli defeat the host Crete, 10-3. On Sunday, Lakeview eliminated Arlington, 11-3 while the host Crete knocked out Broken Bow, 6-5 as winner’s bracket games saw Alliance defeat Central City, 8-2 and Hickman top Roncalli, 7-3.
Monday’s schedule will begin with elimination games at 1 and 4 p.m. featuring Central City vs. the host Crete followed by Roncalli vs. Columbus Lakeview before the evening winner’s bracket contest between Alliance and Hickman at 7 p.m.
The Class B finals are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 with Thursday, August 5 meant for any delays.
From Palmer on Saturday, Shelby/Osceola/Stromsburg defeated Tecumseh, 5-1; Louisville-Weeping Water topped Imperial, 5-1; DCB shutout Crofton, 8-0 and the host PWG edged Pender, 3-2. From Sunday, Tecumseh eliminated Imperial in nine innings, 7-6 while Pender edged Crofton, 2-1 as winner’s bracket scores saw Louisville-Weeing Water defeat SOS, 7-4 and DCB won against the host PWG, 9-4.
Monday’s schedule will open with elimination games of PWG vs. Tecumseh at 2 p.m. and SOS vs. Pender at 5 p.m. followed by the winner’s bracket outing between Louisville-Weeping Water and DCB at 8 p.m.
The Class C finals are scheduled for 5 p.m. on Wednesday, August 4 with Thursday, August 5 meant for any delays.
