WAHOO/WISNER – A pair of week nine high school football matches will be aired on KTCH/KCTY and waynedailynews.com Friday night.

One will feature a pair of 11-man teams looking to secure a spot in the playoffs between Wayne High and Bishop Neumann while the other will have a championship-like feel between an undefeated Wisner-Pilger team and a one-loss Wakefield team who is ineligible for the playoffs (enrollment, playing down a class).

First, on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590, a pair of 6-2 teams will be playing in Wahoo when Bishop Neumann hosts Wayne. The Blue Devils began their season at Wahoo Public and will end their regular season taking on the Cavaliers back in Wahoo.

Last season, Wayne High ended the year losing three including the regular season finale hosting Bishop Neumann (8-42). This year, WHS has won three straight and are in line for the playoffs as are the Cavaliers. After dropping back-to-back hosting Columbus Scotus and at Wahoo Public, Bishop Neumann won 35-12 over Raymond Central as the team started the year 5-0.

Join Justin Raulston and Nate Burrows for the call with pregame coverage set for 6:45 p.m.

Then, our final Area Game of The Week will feature the 7-0 Wisner-Pilger Gators hosting the 6-1 Wakefield Trojans. Wakefield recently topped Winnebago on the road (86-22) while the Gators shutout Omaha Nation (70-0) on the road as well.

A year ago, Wakefield won six straight after dropping their first two games to Creighton and Howells-Dodge. This season, the 6-1 Trojans beat Creighton in their season-opener but suffered a loss at Howells-Dodge before now winning five straight. Wakefield topped Wisner-Pilger in last year’s meeting, 50-8.
