Wayne Youth Baseball Teams Secure A Trio Of League Victories

WAYNE – Both the Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos hosted different Tri County League opponents while the Wayne White Didgets took to the road.

From the Summer Sports Complex in Wayne, the Blue Didgets welcomed in Pierce Blue while the Blue Broncos hosted Battle Creek #2 as the White Didgets visited Homer on Monday.

The Wayne White Broncos earned a bye on Monday and remain 6-3 on the season.

The Wayne Blue Didgets secured a 7-3 victory over Pierce Blue to improve to 7-3 on the season.

Harley Poland doubled, drove in three runs and scored while Merrick Miller doubled and scored twice. Mason Rhods singled twice and drove in two runs; Blake Heithold singled, drove in two runs and scored; Brayden Wehrer singled and scored twice as Zaven Jurgensen singled and scored.

Wehrer (51) picked up the win in three innings allowing one run off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking one. Heithold (56) worked three innings allowing two runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out five batters and walking one.

The Wayne Blue Broncos were all over Battle Creek #2 and won 19-6 to improve to 7-2.

Easton Endicott singled twice, doubled, drove in five runs and scored three times while Jackson McMenamin doubled, drove in three runs and scored three times.

Liam Rockhill singled twice and scored twice; Kash Haase singled, drove in a run and scored three times; Reece Ames singled and drove in a run; Camden Hall and Cale Eischeid both singled and scored; Colston Starzl accounted for a RBI and three runs scored; Shawn Thompson added a RBI; Spencer Moormeier scored twice as Parker Zara scored.

Ames (55) picked up the win in three scoreless innings not allowing a hit while striking out six batters and walking three. Easton Gamble (40) worked an inning allowing four runs (three earned) off one hit while striking out one batter and walking four. Moormeier (15) closed out the final inning striking out three batters.

The White Didgets shutout Homer, 9-0 to improve to 5-5 on the season.

Mason Nelson doubled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Dreu Jensen doubled, drove in two runs and scored; Isaiah Zarate doubled, drove in a run and scored as Maxon Judd doubled and drove in a run.

Hudson Kramer singled and scored twice; Bradley Hanson singled and drove in a run; Daniel Jiminez singled and scored as Brayden McManigal and Benjamin Patefield both scored.

Two pitchers combined for the victory being Nelson (53) in two innings allowing one hit while striking out five batters and walking three as Hanson (48) worked two innings allowing one hit while striking out five batters and walking two.

The Wayne White Didgets will visit Logan View Blue to conclude their regular season on Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m. as the Wayne White Broncos will also visit Logan View Blue on Thursday at 7:45 p.m. before concluding their season on Monday, June 27 at Wisner starting at 6:30 p.m.

The Wayne Blue Didgets will close out their regular season on Thursday, June 23 vs. North Bend Orange at 6 p.m. and the Wayne Blue Broncos will also host North Bend Orange at 7:45 p.m. this Thursday before ending their season at Tekamah-Herman Purple on Monday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m.

The Tri County League Tournament will begin next week with a 13-team upper division Didget bracket (with consolation) and 13-team lower division Didget bracket (no consolation); a 12-team upper division Bronco bracket (with consolation) and 11-team lower division Bronco bracket (no consolation) along with a 16-team Pony bracket (with consolation).

Didget first round games and Pony games begin on Tuesday, June 28 while Bronco first round games will begin on Wednesday, June 29 as a bracket will be posted prior to the start of the tournament.
