WAYNE – With the conference meet scheduled for next week and another road invite this weekend, the Wayne High wrestling program closed out their home schedule with a make-up dual.
From Wayne Elementary School, the Blue Devils welcomed in Battle Creek during their parent’s night home competition.
Wayne High topped Battle Creek, 45-28.
Contested match wins for the Blue Devils came from Raul Palma (145) over Hunter Kreikemeier by fall (4:44); Cooper Zara (160) over Kaleb Kummer by fall (1:00); Reid Korth (195) over Kase Thompson by fall (1:12); Martin Carrillo (220) over Jacob Ottis by fall (3:13); Garrett Schultz (113) over Afftynn Stusse by decision (7-2) and Ashton Munsell (126) over Caden Meinke by fall (3:50).
Battle Creek wins saw Boston Reeves (138) win by decision (8-2) over Eli Barner; Korbyn Battershaw (152) won by fall (2:26) over Francisco Jinez; Kaden Warneke (170) won by major decision (8-0) over Aiden Liston; Dahlas Zlomke (285) won by fall (1:57) over Bo Armstrong; Garrett Finke (106) won by fall (2:31) over Alex Frank and Jaxson Hassler (120) won by decision (6-2) over Zach McManigal.
Reece Jaqua (132) and Ethan McCraney (182) both won by forfeit.
Wayne High will next compete in the Neligh-Oakdale Wrestling Invite on Saturday, January 23 before taking part in the Mid State Conference meet on Thursday, January 28 hosted by Pierce.
