Wayne White Didgets Win By A Run Over The Blues, Wayne Blue Broncos Bring 10 Runs Across In Final Two Innings Against The Whites

WAYNE – Youth baseball teams came together for Thursday night action against one another with a battle between the Wayne White Didgets and Broncos vs. the Blue Didgets and Broncos.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the White Didgets and Broncos were listed as the designated home team.

During the Didget outing, the Wayne Whites won 6-5 in five innings to improve to 2-3 while the Wayne Blues fell to 1-5.

Sam Leseberg recorded two hits while Easton Endicott added a pair of doubles for the Wayne Whites.

Colston Starzl recorded a double and run scored to lead the Wayne Blues. Shawn Thompson singled and drove in two runs; Kash Haase singled and scored as Spencer Moormeier singled and drove in a run.

Moormeier worked three innings striking out five batters; Camden Hall worked an inning striking out one batter and Easton Gamble pitched two innings recording three strikeouts.

 

In the Broncos game, The Wayne Blue team took the early 2-0 lead after the first. Following a pair of scoreless innings, Wayne White knotted the game at two all. The Wayne Blues then outscored Wayne White 3-0 in the fifth and 7-2 in the sixth to win 12-4. The Wayne Blues improve to 5-4 while the Whites fall to 6-4.

Jaxon Kneifl singled, tripled, drove in two runs and scored three times; Adrian Contrares singled, tripled, drove in a run and scored twice while Jace Jorgensen singled, doubled, drove in three runs and scored three times for the Wayne Blues. Mason Heikes singled three times, drove in three runs and scored once; Drew Miller singled twice, drove in a run and scored; Taven Ocampo and Herwin Bernal both singled and scored as Chase Sturm accounted for a RBI.

Jaxon Kneifl started the opening four innings allowing two earned runs off six hits while striking out six batters. Heikes worked the final two innings allowing two runs off six hits while striking out and walking two batters each.

Alex Rodriguez singled twice, tripled, drove in a run and scored to lead the Wayne Whites. Gavin Anderson singled, drove in a run and scored; Parker Patefield and Will Leseberg both singled and scored; Carter Wiese singled twice; Lance Stange singled and drove in a run while Drew Reinhart, Brodrick Tiedtke and Zander Liston all singled.

The Wayne Whites used four pitchers in the loss as Liston opened the first two innings allowing two earned runs off one hit while striking out four batters and walking two. Rodriguez worked two innings striking out six batters and walking two; Anderson pitched a third of an inning allowing three earned runs off three hits while striking out one batter and Tiedtke came in for an inning and two-thirds allowing seven earned runs off nine hits while striking out three batters and walking one.

Three of teams will return to action on Monday, July 6. The Wayne White Didgets and Broncos will visit Pender at 6/7:30 p.m. and the Wayne Blue Broncos will travel to Wakefield at 7:30 p.m. The Wayne Blue Didgets will visit Ponca on Tuesday, July 7.
