Wayne White Didgets Suffer Home Loss; Blue Didgets And Broncos Pick Up Road Wins

WAYNE/BATTLE CREEK – Tri County League play continued for four Wayne youth baseball teams on Thursday.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne White Didgets welcomed in Oakland-Craig while the Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos visited Battle Creek #1.

In the White Didget contest, Wayne (4-5) suffered a 10-7 loss to Oakland-Craig.

Ryker Heithold recorded a solo homerun; Daniel Jiminez tripled and scored twice while Hudson Kramer singled twice, drove in a run and scored.

Isaiah Zarate singled and drove in two runs; Brayden McManigal singled and drove in a run; Benjamin Patefield accounted for a RBI as Mason Nelson, Maxon Judd and Mason Jech all scored.

Combining for the loss were Patefield (74 pitches) in two and two-thirds allowing eight runs (four earned) off two hits while striking out five batters and walking six as Bradley Hanson (44) worked two innings allowing two earned runs off three hits while striking out three batters and walking two.

During the White Bronco outing, Wayne entered 5-3 as Oakland-Craig forfeited the game.

 

 

From the Blue Didgets game, Wayne (6-3) held onto a 9-8 victory over Battle Creek #1.

Merrick Miller singled twice, doubled, drove in a run and scored three times; Brayden Wehrer singled three times, drove in three runs and scored twice while Blake Heithold doubled twice and drove in two runs.

Sy Chase singled and scored twice; Zaven Jurgensen singled; Harley Poland accounted for two RBI as Tyler D and Keaton Hall both scored.

Wehrer (112) picked up the win in six innings allowing two runs (one earned) off two hits while striking out 14 batters and walking five. Poland (47) worked an inning allowing five runs (four earned) off two hits while striking out two batters and walking five. Treyvan Rager (23) pitched an inning striking out one batter and walking two.

In the Blue Bronco contest, Wayne (6-2) secured a 3-2 win at Battle Creek #1.

Jackson McMenamin tripled, drove in two runs and scored while Easton Endicott singled and drove in a run. Colston Starzl singled and scored twice as other singles came from Spencer Moormeier and Reece Ames.

Two individuals combined for the win not allowing a hit being Endicott (79 pitches) in four innings allowing two runs (one earned) while striking out nine batters and walking five as Starzl (31) pitched two innings striking out five batters and walking one.

The Wayne White Didgets will next visit Homer (White Broncos earn Bye), the Wayne Blue Didgets will next host Pierce Blue and the Wayne Blue Broncos will host Battle Creek #2 all on Monday, June 20 at 6/7:45 p.m.
