Wayne White Broncos Split Home Doubleheader, Wayne Blue Didgets Fall On Road

WAYNE/PONCA – A pair of youth baseball teams in Wayne took part in Tuesday night outings.

The Wayne White Broncos hosted Randolph for a pair of games posting a home split winning game one 7-6 before falling in the night cap 12-7 to now sit 8-5 on the season. The Wayne Blue Didgets visited Ponca and suffered a 9-4 defeat falling to 1-6.

During the opening Broncos game, Wayne led 3-2 in the first before pouring in four runs during the second. Randolph answered with a three-run third and scored a run in the fourth as the Wayne White Broncos held on for the 7-6 victory.

Austin Heiser doubled and scored while Alex Rodriguez singled twice, drove in two runs and scored for Wayne. Sam Etter singled, drove in two runs and scored twice; Gavin Anderson singled, drove in a run and scored; Drew Reinhardt and Brodrick Tiedtke both scored as Mason Karsky singled.

Lance Stange picked up the win in an inning and two-thirds allowing two runs while striking out four batters as Joe Leatherdale recorded the final out and walked two batters. Jenner Dorey worked an inning allowing three runs (two earned) off one hit while striking out two batters and walking four as Will Leseberg secured the save in the final inning allowing an earned run while striking out one batter walking three.

Closing out the night, Randolph took control early scoring four runs in the opening inning before outscoring the Wayne White Broncos 3-1 in the second. Both teams scored a run in the third as Wayne tallied four runs in the fourth and a run in the fifth to pull within a run down 8-7 but Randolph scored four runs in the sixth to win 12-7.

Heiser singled twice; drove in a run and scored while Parker Patefield and Reinhardt singled, drove in a run and scored for Wayne. Rodriguez singled and scored twice; Carter Wiese singled and drove in a run; Tiedtke singled and scored; Zander Liston accounted for a RBI and scored as Anderson and Leseberg both singled.

From the Blue Didgets lone game, Colston Starzl singled, drove in a run and scored while Spencer Moormeier singled and scored. Parker Zara and Aiden Petersen both accounted for a RBI.

Starzl suffered the loss in four and two-thirds allowing five runs off three hits while striking out 10 batters while Trecyn Ocampo also pitched.

The Wayne White Broncos will join their Didgets team on Wednesday, July 8 hosting the West Point Twins at 6/7:30 p.m. The Wayne Blue Didgets and Broncos will visit the West Point Patriots on Thursday, July 9 at 6/7:30 p.m.
