Wayne White Broncos Secure Home Sweep

WAYNE – After suffering a weekend road defeat to O’Neill the Wayne White Broncos were looking to get on the winning track back at the confines of the Summer Sports Complex.

The White Broncos entertained Pierce during a Monday night doubleheader.

In the opening game, Wayne White won 3-1 before holding on for a 7-6 victory in game two. The Wayne White Broncos are now 2-2 on the season.

After Pierce scored first in the top of the third, Wayne answered with three straight innings of single runs to win 3-1 in game one.

Game One:

Will Leseberg recorded a single, triple drove in two runs while Drew Reinhardt doubled and Zander Liston singled. Gavin Anderson, Parker Patefield and Liston all scored.

Reinhardt opened the first three innings allowing an earned run off one hit while striking out seven batters and walking three. Alex Rodriguez tallied nine strike outs in three innings.

From the nightcap, Pierce again took the early advantage with two runs in each of the first and third innings. The Wayne White Broncos cut into the deficit with a three-run fourth but Pierce added to their lead thanks to a two-run fifth to go up 6-3. Wayne then tallied four runs in the home half of the sixth to win 7-6.

Rodriguez recorded a solo homerun and scored another run while Joe Leatherdale doubled. Leseberg added two singles and three RBI as Patefield singled, drove in a run and scored. Brodrick Tiedtke accounted for a RBI as Sam Etter, Austin Heiser, Reinhardt and Liston all scored.

Jenner Dorey opened the game working two innings allowing two runs off one hit while striking out four batters and walking two. Heiser pitched an inning allowing two earned runs off three hits and walking two batters. Patefield followed with an inning and a third of relief allowing two earned runs off two hits while striking out two batters and walking one as Tiedtke worked an inning and two-thirds striking out four batters and walking one.

The Wayne White Broncos will next compete in doubleheader action on Wednesday, June 24 when they visit Randolph at 6/7:30 p.m.
