Wayne White Broncos Post Comeback Victory, Blues Dominate On The Road

WAYNE/LYONS – Before hosting the Wayne Youth Baseball Tournament, Tri-County League Bronco baseball teams were in action Thursday evening.

From the Summer Sports Complex, the Wayne Whites played host to Tekamah-Herman Purple and had to comeback once again. Trailing 4-1, Wayne produced three runs in the third inning while tacking on a run in each of the fourth and fifth innings to win 6-4. The Wayne Whites remained undefeated at 8-0.

Dom Dominguez collected a pair of hits to pace Wayne at the plate. Keegan Rubendahl, Calvin Ankeny, Devin Anderson, Aiden Liston and Wyatt Heikes each had a hit.

Dominguez and Heikes combined for the pitching win.

Moving into the Wayne Blue Bronco on the road, Lyons was able to put three of their four runs on the board during the third inning as Wayne still managed to score themselves. The Blue Broncos opened the offense in the first inning with a run while also tacking on a six-run fifth inning. Wayne won 18-4 and are now 7-1 on the season.

As a team, Wayne racked up 18 hits led by Jase Dean with two singles and two doubles while Gavin Redden also picked up four hits. Kaleb Moormeier, Colson Nelson, Kaden Wiese and Sam Junck each tallied multiple hits.

Wayne didn’t commit an error and combined for 11 stolen bases.

Joseph Woerdemann surrendered just one run off of two hits over three innings while striking out three batters and Sam Junck finished off the game.

The Wayne Whites will next visit Howells-Dodge who was undefeated entering Thursday while the Blue Broncos will play host to Columbus Lakeview both on Monday, June 18 at 7:45 p.m.
