CROFTON/BANCROFT – Both the Wayne and Wakefield girls and boys basketball teams will begin the week with road doubleheaders on Tuesday, January 18.
Wayne High will visit Crofton and be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailyneews.com while the Wakefield basketball program will visit Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur in Bancroft and be covered by Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com.
From Crofton, JV girls and boys games will both begin at 4:30 p.m., varsity girls around 6 p.m. and varsity boys to follow. Join Blake Hilkemeier on KCTY for pregame show coverage around 5:45 p.m.
The Blue Devil girls are 8-8 following a 55-26 home win over Norfolk Catholic last Friday while Crofton sits 13-2 and recently had a nine-game winning streak snapped after losing to West Central (SD), 61-59 last Thursday.
Last year, Crofton defeated Wayne 63-27 in Wayne.
The Wayne High boys have now strung four straight wins together including a 79-61 home win on Saturday over Boys Town to now sit 14-1. The Warriors are on a current eight-game losing streak after dropping a 74-37 home game to Norfolk Catholic also on Saturday falling to 4-10.
Last year, the Blue Devils won 59-24 in Wayne.
In Bancroft, the JV girls game will feature two quarters and start at 4 p.m. with a rolling schedule. Varsity competition will start closer to 5:45 p.m. Pregame show coverage with Luke Stara on KTCH will be around 5:30 p.m.
The Wakefield girls are 9-4 and recently won 62-37 over Lawton-Bronson (IA) last Thursday as BRLD sits 9-3 following a 73-55 road loss to Ponca on Saturday.
Last year, BRLD won 77-31 in Wakefield.
The Wakefield boys won their fourth consecutive game being a 77-34 home victory over Lawton-Bronson (IA) to improve to 11-2. The Wolverines are 3-8 after dropping a 47-36 road game with Ponca on Saturday.
Last year, Wakefield won 59-55 in Wakefield while BRLD defeated the Trojans, 61-49 in the first round of the C2-4 Subdistrict Tournament.
