Wayne, Wakefield Football Rankings

LINCOLN/OMAHA – One northeast Nebraska high school football team continues to move up in the ratings while another prepares for a top 10 showdown.

According to the weekly polls from the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal Star, Wayne High remains the same in both at #1 (OWH) and #4 (LJS) while Wakefield moved up one spot to #5 in the OWH and up one spot to #7 in the LJS.

The Blue Devils are coming off a 14-11 parent’s night home victory over Columbus Lakeview last Friday night as the Trojans used a 50-14 late afternoon home win against then ranked #10 Stanton (OWH).

Both teams will prepare for their own ranked battle that will be carried on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 and waynedailynews.com. Pregame coverage of Friday night’s #1/#4 Wayne vs. #3/#6 Ashland-Greenwood game will begin at 6:40 p.m. with kickoff set for 7 p.m. and the #5/#7 Wakefield at #8 Lutheran High Northeast match-up will kick off Saturday at 1 p.m. as the pregame show is scheduled for 12:40 p.m.

Wayne’s Friday night opponent, 3-0 Ashland-Greenwood recently defeated Arlington 22-12, moving up one spot to #3 in the OWH and up a spot to #6 in the LJS.

Wakefield’s Saturday afternoon opponent, 3-0 Lutheran High Northeast won 44-36 at Guardian Angels Central Catholic and entered into the Omaha World Herald rankings at #8.
