WAYNE/WISNER – From a home-opener for the Wayne High football team to a northeast Nebraska eight-man showdown, Friday night lights returns for week two of the season on September 2.
The Wayne High vs. Douglas County West Class C1 contest will be carried on The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 while the Laurel-Concord-Coleridge at Wisner-Pilger Class D1 outing will air on Big Red Country ‘KTCH’ 104.9 as both games will be on waynedailynews.com. Both games are scheduled to kickoff at 7 p.m.
WHS is 0-1 following a 30-0 road loss at Omaha Roncalli Catholic on August 26 while Douglas County West is 1-0 after winning their home-opener over West Point-Beemer, 26-7 last Friday.
Fans who attend the game are encouraged to support Beef in Schools at Wayne during the Farm Bureau and FFA Tailgate Meal. From 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the south endzone, there’ll be burgers, beans, chips and a drink for a free will donation.

LCC is 1-0 on the season following a 46-25 road victory at Guardian Angels Central Catholic on August 26 while the host Wisner-Pilger is also 1-0 after winning 52-18 at Lutheran High Northeast last Friday.
Last season, Laurel-Concord-Coleridge won 36-14 at Wisner-Pilger.
