WAYNE – Following an entire month full of triangular and invitational outings for the Wayne High unified bowling team in November, their season came to an end with a runner-up finish in the postseason.

The Blue Devils joined seven other teams during the NSAA District 5 Unified Bowling Tournament from Kings Lanes in Norfolk Tuesday.

The six-game total for Wayne was a score of 730 to place second at districts behind Norfolk High’s 938. WHS edged West Point-Beemer by five pins who placed third with a 725. Last season Norfolk High placed runner-up at state, falling to Fremont.

Wayne High’s best game was game #5, bowling a 161. Other scores were 146 (#1); 98 (#2); 107 (#3); 103 (#4) and 115 (#6).

Other team scores came from Osmond (fourth – 701); South Sioux City (fifth – 619); Omaha Nation (sixth – 597); Ponca (seventh – 544) and Bloomfield (eighth – 339).

The NSAA State Unified Bowling Championships will take place in Lincoln from Sun Valley Lanes on Monday, December 9 starting at 10:30 a.m. with the opening ceremonies. Other teams joining Norfolk High will be Bellevue West (District 1 – 794); Millard North (District 2 – 1,040); Wahoo (District 3 – 809); Lincoln Southeast (District 4 – 902); North Bend Central (District 6 – 864); Grand Island Northwest (District 7 – 868) and Scottsbluff (District 8 – 879).
