Wayne To Visit Wakefield Tuesday Night, Games Carried On KTCH

WAKEFIELD – Tuesday night will feature a northeast Nebraska showdown where two towns located 10 miles from each other will meet during a basketball doubleheader.

From Wakefield Community Schools, the Trojans have been off since an opening night road split last Thursday while the Wayne High Blue Devils played back-to-back over the weekend.

Junior varsity girls competition will get underway at 4 p.m. with the boys to follow around 5:15 p.m. Varsity girls will take to the court around 6:30 p.m. followed by the boys around 7:45 p.m. in Wakefield.

The Wakefield girls are 0-1 following a one-point, 54-53 road loss at Pender last Thursday. WHS split games last week at Battle Creek, winning 62-48 but falling to Ponca, 53-34 in Wayne.

The Trojan boys escaped Pender with a 53-43 road win last Thursday while the Blue Devils are off to a 2-0 start with wins at Battle Creek, 40-25 and a home 49-22 victory over Ponca.
