Wayne State Women’s Soccer Suffers 4-0 Road Loss

ABERDEEN, SD – For a third consecutive weekend the Wayne State College women’s soccer program was on the road.

From the Athletic and Recreation Fields in Aberdeen, South Dakota, WSC visited Northern State University Friday evening.

The host Wolves built a three-goal first half lead and went onto win 4-0. Northern State is now 4-2 (2-1 NSIC) while the Wildcats fell to 0-5-1 (0-3 NSIC).

Northern State goals came in the seventh (6:09), 31st (30:25) and 39th (38:15) minutes in the first half while the second half goal was scored in the 64th minute (63:07) to win 4-0.

Annika Syvrud placed both of her two shots on goal while Paige Pemberton added two of three shots on goal for WSC. Payton Haliburton had one shot of two on goal while Maia Vacks tallied her lone shot on goal.

Other shot attempts came from Skylar Stueckrath and Morgan Rhodes both with two as Cleo Johnson had one.

Hayden Wallace allowed four goals and recorded eight saves in 69 minutes while Regan Ott was in goal for 21 minutes.

Northern State outshot Wayne State, 21-13 (12-6 on goal) while recording 11 corner kicks compared to two from WSC.

The Wayne State College women’s soccer team will next play on Sunday at noon visiting MSU Moorhead.
