WAYNE – The Wayne State College women’s and men’s rugby teams will have a busy month of April competition as the Wildcats are on the home pitch this weekend in late March.
According to a release from Wayne State College Rugby, the 7’s schedule was posted for the club sport.
After competing against Iowa State earlier this month, the Wayne State women and men will host matches on Saturday, March 27 at the Wayne Rugby Park near the Softball Complex.
The Wildcat women will open the day at 11 a.m. against Iowa State University followed by Northern Iowa at 12:50 p.m. and then compete against the Cyclones and Panthers a second time Saturday.
The Wayne State College men’s 7s team will compete against Central College of Pella, Iowa at 3:20 /4:40 p.m.
Mask wearing and social distancing will be encouraged as there’ll be a livestream link on the Wayne State College Rugby Facebook page for those not able to attend.
Other women’s competition will be at South Dakota on April 6 & April 17, at South Dakota State on April 10 and hosting the regional qualifier for a chance to compete at nationals May 28 – 30 in New Orleans, LA.
For the Wildcat men, they’ll visit South Dakota State on April 10, play at Northwest Missouri State on April 17 and host the regional qualifier on April 24 for a chance to compete at nationals May 28 – 30 New Orleans, LA.
