Wayne State Women’s Golf Shoots 333 During Day One Of NSIC Championships To Sit Third, Kurmel Is Second Overall

SMITHVILLE, MO – A series of three days highlighting 13 Northern Sun Intercollegiate women’s golf teams began on Friday.

From the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex in Smithville, Missouri, the Wayne State College women’s golf team currently sits third following Friday’s first round of 18 holes with a 333 (two strokes from second).

Leading the way for the Wildcat women’s golf team through day one is Abbey Kurmel in second place with a four-over PAR 76.

Jazmine Taylor and Mekky Winyarat are both tied for 16th with an 83; Paige Peters sits tied for 40th with a 91 and Abby Brodersen is tied for 48th with a 93.

Augustana is the team leader following first round action after shooting a 306; Minnesota State-Mankato sits second with a 331 and the Wildcats are third with a 333.

Augustana’s Shannon McCormick leads all 65 golfers with a one-over PAR 73.

Day two of the 2022 NSIC Women’s Golf Championships will resume on Saturday, April 23 at 8:30 a.m. while the third and final day is scheduled for Sunday, April 24.
