WAYNE – While the Wayne State men close out their final four regular season games on the road, the Wildcat women will be on the home court for back-to-back weekends.
From Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College, the WSC women return home to open a four-game homestand. WSC will face Southwest Minnesota State in a pair of NSIC South Division games on Friday and Saturday, February 12 – 13.
The Wildcats are 5-7 and 4-6 in the NSIC South Division following two road losses at Sioux Falls last weekend 80-45 and 62-58 while the Mustangs are 7-3 and 5-3 in the division following a home split vs. Augustana (L 83-81 OT and W 75-62).
Last season, SMSU and WSC split with the Wildcats winning in Wayne 79-62 followed by a 77-60 Mustang win in Marshall that snapped a 21-game losing skid to the Wildcats in the series.
For the Wildcat men, they’ll visit SMSU this weekend. Game times at the R/A Facility are 6 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday with no fans allowed due to COVID-19. The Wildcats enter the weekend tied for first in the NSIC South Division (7-3) and are 7-5 overall while the Mustangs are 0-3 in division play and 2-5 on the season.
Last weekend, WSC split home games with #22 Sioux Falls (L 70-68, W 71-46) while SMSU fell at Augustana Sunday afternoon 84-74 with their other game canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. Last season, SMSU won both meetings vs. WSC – 62-59 in Wayne and 78-61 at Marshall.
