Wayne State Women Place Third, Men Finish Runner-Up During Wildcat Classic

WAYNE – For the second straight week, the Wayne State College women’s and men’s cross country program was in action.

From the Wayne Country Club, WSC welcomed in a couple of other NSIC teams during the Wildcat Classic on Friday.

WSC will also be the host for the NSIC Championships on Saturday, November 5.

The Wayne State College women finished third with 68 points while the Wildcat men took second with 65 points.

Augustana won the women’s division with 15 points, followed by Southwest Minnesota State in second (60), Wayne State College (third – 68 points), Mount Marty University (fourth – 106) as Bellevue University also competed in the meet.

Alison Stineman was the top Wildcat finisher in 13th place overall with a time of 20:52 followed by Kelsey Larsen in 16th at 21:42.

Madeline Kunz and Maelee Beacom followed in 20th and 23rd place respectively with times of 22:01 and 22:13. Other Wildcat runners were Ava McGown in 25th at 22:24, Sydney Escritt 28th in 23:31 and Kenzie Mosel 29th with a time of 23:36.

 

Augustana scored 15 points to win the men’s team title followed by Wayne State College with 65 points, Augustana unattached with 77 was third, Mount Marty University in fourth (95) and Southwest Minnesota State rounded out the top five teams with 130 points. Bellevue University also had runners compete in the meet.

Titus Kiptoo paced WSC with a seventh place finish in a time of 26:54 on the 8,000-meter course. Brandon Mundorf followed in 10th place at 27:38.

Abe Schroeder crossed the line in 18th place in a time of 28:35 with Gabe Peitz 21st in 28:59.

Other Wayne State runners were Quentin Dreyer 22nd at 29:00, Brandon Mitzel 26th in 29:29 and Isaac Richards 27th at 29:29.50.

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s cross country team will be off until Saturday, October 8 during the Dordt College Invite from Sioux Center, Iowa.
