MARIETTA, GA – For the third consecutive year and ninth in program history, the Wayne State College women’s club rugby program will be bringing back the top hardware from a national tournament.
Capping off an undefeated season, the Wildcat women competed in the 2018 National Small College Rugby Organization (NSCRO) Women’s 15s Final Four over the weekend.
From Life University in Marietta, Georgia, the Wildcat women outscored their opponents 118-19.
On Saturday, WSC defeated MSU Moorhead (51-7) while The Catholic University of America won against Salve Regina University (19-12).
Moving into Sunday scores, Wayne State led 33-0 at the half before defeating The Catholic University of America (Washington D.C.), 67-12.
Sunday’s third place game went to Salve Regina University over MSU Moorhead (51-12).
Those representing WSC for the 2018 NSCRO 15s All-Tournament Team were Brook Hoesing, Selma Taylor, Kennedy Jones, Holly Schupbach, Julia Baxter and Anna Fleecs. Taylor also earned MVP honors as the Heart & Soul recipient was Maddie Putler.
Next up for the Wayne State women will be defending their 7s title in the Spring of 2019.
