Wayne State Volleyball secures Home Sweep Over Minot State

WAYNE – Following a Friday night home sweep, the Wayne State College volleyball team was back in action Saturday afternoon hosting another school from the state of North Dakota.

From Rice Auditorium on the campus of Wayne State College, the ‘Cats entertained Minot State.

WSC recorded back-to-back home sweeps with a win over MISU (25-12, 25-7, 25-15). Wayne State College improves to 19-6 (11-5 NSIC) while the Beavers fell to 11-15 (4-12 NSIC).

Alyssa Ballenger paced WSC at the net with 12 kills followed by 10 kills each by Jaci Brahmer and Katie Stephens. Megan Gebhardt tallied a team-high 31 set assists as Haley Kauth posted a team-high 13 digs with Maddie Duffy adding 12 digs.

Tarrin Beller and Morgan Alexander both tacked on two service aces as Kauth and Duffy picked up an ace. Brahmer came away with five block-assists as Beller and Gebhardt recorded four block-assists each.

Wayne State College outhit the Beavers, .354 to .080 while winning the block battle (9-4) and six service aces to two from Minot State.

The Wayne State College volleyball team has one more non-conference match on the schedule when they visit South Dakota School of Mines on Tuesday, October 23. WSC will be back home on Friday, October 26 hosting Winona State at 6 p.m. and Upper Iowa on Saturday, October 27 at 4 p.m.
