WAYNE – For the second straight weekend, Wayne State College volleyball swept Concordia-St. Paul which saw the Wildcats on the move yet again in the rankings.
According to a release, WSC moved from #5 to #3 in Monday’s NCAA Division II AVCA Coaches’ Poll with 1,067 points along with seven first place votes.
The Wildcats (11-0/2-0 NSIC) swept then #3 Concordia-St. Paul on Friday before also winning in straight sets over Minnesota State-Mankato this past weekend.
#1 Tampa (39 first place votes) remained among the top spot with their 9-0 record.
Other NSIC ranked teams include #5 Concordia-St. Paul (8-2, down two spots), #6 St. Cloud State (10-0, remained the same), #7 Southwest Minnesota State (10-0, up two spots with one first place vote), #10 Minnesota Duluth (10-0, up four spots) and #23 Augustana University (9-1, up one spot). Northern State and Winona State were also receiving votes and listed on two or more ballots.
#3 Wayne State College will conclude non-conference play hosting Peru State College on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 p.m. WSC will resume league play on Friday and Saturday, September 16 – 17 visiting Upper Iowa and Winona State.
