Wayne State Softball To Open With Series, First Tournament Scheduled For Next Weekend

WAYNE – Just like the baseball team moving their games up, the Wayne State College softball team will have a change to their season-opening schedule this weekend.

Announced by WSC softball head coach Shelli Manson Tuesday, the scheduled tournament in Bentonville, Arkansas at the 8-State Classic Friday, Saturday and Sunday has been cancelled due to weather.

WSC will now take part in a pair of doubleheaders at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Missouri.

Game times are scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. on Thursday along with 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. game times Saturday.

Now, the first tournament for the Wildcat softball team will be the Emporia State Tournament set for next Friday, February 22 – Sunday, February 24 in Emporia, Kansas. WSC will open with Northwest Missouri State (10 a.m.) and Nebraska-Kearney (noon) on Friday, Missouri Southern (noon) and Washburn (4 p.m.) Saturday and close with Missouri Western (1 p.m.) and the host Emporia State (3 p.m.) Sunday.
