SHAWNEE, OK – Non-conference road competition continued Friday night for the Wayne State College men’s basketball team.
From the Noble Complex in Shawnee, Oklahoma WSC took on a team from the Great American Conference being East Central (OK).
East Central took the early lead of 43-34 going into the break before winning the second half score 46-42. Final favored East Central 89-76 to improve to 1-0 while the’ Cats fell to 0-4.
Three Wildcats hit double figure numbers from Jordan Janssen and Al’Tavius Jackson with 18 points each as Nick Ferrarini added 13 points. Jordan Janssen finished with a double-double thanks to a team-high 13 rebounds to go along with six assists and three steals.
Nate Mohr added nine points, Nate Thayer had eight points, Henry Penner (five boards) scored six points as Ben Dentlinger (five boards) and Obi Patrick both had two points.
Wayne State shot 27-61 (44.3%) from the field, 8-18 (44.4%) from behind the arc and 14-23 (60.9%) from the foul line.
The ‘Cats finished with 30 points in the paint, 16 off the bench, 12 fast break points, 12 points off 13 forced turnovers and 10 second chance points from 11 offensive rebounds.
Wayne State will next face Oklahoma Baptist at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
