WAYNE – After taking part in a few non-conference games, the NSIC home opener for Wayne State College basketball is scheduled for Tuesday, November 23.
From Rice Auditorium, the Wildcat women and men will open their league schedule with travel partner, Augustana University at 5:30/7:30 p.m.
The Wayne State women are 2-1 on the season and are coming off a home split last week. The Wildcats won 87-50 over Chadron State on Thursday but suffered a 66-50 defeat to Black Hills State. The loss last Friday snapped a 48-game home non-conference winning streak dating back to 2008.
Augustana enters with a 2-0 record with home wins over Peru State (81-54) and Minnesota Morris (86-55) earlier this month.
Earlier this year in February of 2021, the Vikings topped WSC 87-73 and 87-76 in Wayne.
Moving into the men’s NSIC South Division opener, Wayne State College is 2-2 after winning both home non-conference games last week. The Wildcats topped Bellevue, 74-40 last Tuesday and won 95-72 over Simpson last Friday.
The Augie men are 4-0 after securing wins against Southern Arkansas (74-66) and #11 Washburn (72-58) on November 12 – 13 in Kansas City, Missouri during the Central Region Challenge. Augustana also won both their East/West Challenge games this past weekend over Black Hills State (73-63) and South Dakota Mines (82-58) in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
Last season, the Wayne State men split their road games at Augustana losing 60-57 before turning around the next day and winning 82-70.
