Wayne State Cross Country Results From Lincoln, Wildcat Classic Is Friday

LINCOLN – Ahead of Friday’s home meet, the Wayne State College women’s and men’s cross country program recently took part in their second competition of the season.

From Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, WSC participated in the Woody Greeno/Jay Dirksen Invite on September 17.

The Wildcat women finished 21st out of 29 teams with 597 points while the WSC men placed 18th out of 32 teams with a team score of 533 points.

Kansas State edged Nebraska for the women’s team title 54-59 followed by Drake (101), Kansas (118) and Northwest Missouri State (122) in the top five. Northern Colorado was sixth with 180 points, Nebraska-Kearney seventh at 205 points with Wichita State (228), Air Force (240) and Omaha (268) filling out the top 10 teams.

For the second straight meet , Lindsey Stuckey was the top Wildcat finisher, covering the 5,000-meter course in 19:47 to finish 107th out 348 runners in the race. Alison Stineman came in next for WSC at 141st overall at 20:26.

Kelsey Larsen finished 162nd place (20:46) with Kylie Pachta following in 179th place (21:12.).

Other Wildcat finishers included Madeline Kunz (186th – 21:20), Maelee Beacom (195th – 21:39), Ava McGown (205th – 21:50), Sydney Escritt (209th – 21:56) and Kenzie Mosel (234th – 22:41).

Colby Community College captured the men’s team title with 55 points followed by Kansas (98), Air Force (101), Kansas State (113) and Northwest Tech of Kansas in fifth with 144 points. Northwest Missouri State came in sixth at 227 points with Trinidad State (235), Nebraska (246), Iowa Central CC (266) and Creighton (280) rounding out the top 10 teams.

Titus Kiptoo, a transfer from American International College, was the top Wildcat finisher taking 35th out of 323 runners with a time of 25:15 on the 8,000-meter course.  Will McGonigal followed in 127th place at 27:00.

Quentin Dreyer was next in 156th place at 27:28 with teammate Abe Schroeder right behind at 157th with a time of 27:29.

Other Wildcat finishers were – Brandon Mundorf (169th – 27:40), Brandon Mitzel (205th – 28:36), Gabe Peitz (206th – 28:38), Isaac Richards (213th – 28:46) and Andrew Wyllie (265th – 30:52).

The Wayne State College women’s and men’s cross country team will next host the Wildcat Classic at the Wayne Country Club starting at 4 p.m. for the women’s race followed by the men’s race at 4:45 p.m. this Friday.

Participating teams include Augustana University, Bellevue University, Mount Marty University and Southwest Minnesota State University.
