Wayne State Cross Country Central Region Championship Results

JOPLIN, MO – A total of 35 women’s teams and 31 men’s teams competed in the 2021 NCAA Division II Central Regional Cross Country Championships over the weekend.

From Joplin, Missouri, Wayne State College took part in the Saturday morning competition on the Tom Rutledge Cross Country Course.

The Wayne State College women posted a team score of 848 points to finish 28th while the Wildcat men finished 27th with 765 points.

Senior Allie Rosener and sophomore Brooke Solomon were the top Wildcat women finishers in the final meet of the 2021 season.

Northern Sun Conference teams captured the top three spots and have qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championships in Tampa, Florida November 20.

Augustana won the team title with 33 points, well ahead of second place Minnesota Duluth (113) and third place University of Mary (130). Winona State was fourth at 190 points with Northwest Missouri State rounding out the top five with 221 points.

Newcastle senior Allie Rosener was the top Wayne State finisher, covering the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23:56 to place 144th out of 237 runners that finished the race. Yankton sophomore Brooke Solomon was right behind in 146th place in 23:57.

Norfolk freshman Alison Stineman was 165th overall at 24:20 with Kelsey Larsen, a freshman from Walthill taking 193rd in a time of 25:10. Other Wildcat finishers were Kylie Pachta 203rd in 25:52, Amanda Mote was 204th at 26:02 and Wayne native Andrea Torres 209th at 26:24.

 

During the men’s Central Regional Cross Country race, Augustana captured the men’s team title with 43 points followed by Missouri Southern in second (81) and Pittsburg State third with 92 points. Nebraska-Kearney (171) and Central Missouri (179) filled out the top five teams.

Brandon Mundorf, a sophomore from Springview, was the top Wayne State finisher as he was 121st overall in a field of 207 runners that finished the race with a time of 33:04 on the 10,000-meter course. Fremont senior Brock Hegarty came in 142nd place at 33:30 followed by Omaha Skutt freshman Isaac Richards in 149th place at 33:44.

Other Wildcat finishers included Abe Schroeder in 176th place at 34:48, Brandon Mitzel was 177th in 34:55 and Bryce Holcomb took 185th place at 35:28.
