Wayne State College Tabbed 11th Through Winter NSIC All-Sports Standings

WAYNE – Following the winter athletic season for Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools, an updated list of All-Sports Standings have been calculated.

Again this year, the NSIC will recognize an overall champion along with a men’s and a women’s champion.

According to a release, Minnesota State-Mankato leads in the overall, men’s and women’s standings with 11 of the 18 NSIC championship in the books. MSU won the NSIC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Championship and were second in wrestling, women’s indoor track & field and swimming & diving during the winter sports season.

Augustana is second in the overall standings and in the men’s standings while UMD was second in the women’s standings. St. Cloud State earned ten points for winning the NSIC wrestling title and eight for taking home the swimming and diving title. UMary picked up 15 points for winning the NSIC women’s indoor track & field championship while MSU Moorhead women and Northern State men earned 17 points for winning the basketball titles.

Wayne State College sits 11th with 59 points; 10th from men’s sports (22.5) and 11th from women’s sports (36.5).

The NSIC All Sports Award is calculated by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level shall result in the totaling of points and equal distribution.

The All-Sports Champions will be announced following the spring season, with the awards being presented at the NSIC Summer Kickoff in Burnsville, Minnesota in July.

Minnesota State-Mankato won the overall and men’s standings while
Augustana took home the women’s title last year.
