Wayne State College Remains #2 In Final Regular Season Top 25 Poll, Host Central Region Tournament November 18 – 20

WAYNE – With the round of 64 NCAA Division II Volleyball Tournament set to begin later this week, the final regular season American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DII Top 25 Coaches Poll was released Monday afternoon.

According to a release from Wayne State Athletics, the Wildcats remained second after receiving two first-place votes and 1,065 points in voting from coaches across the country.

MSU Denver (44 first-place votes) remained atop the poll at 28-1.

Other NSIC teams joining #2 WSC were #3 Concordia-St. Paul (26-5, remained the same); #6 Minnesota Duluth (26-4, fell two spots); #7 St. Cloud State (26-5, up two spots) and #10 Southwest Minnesota State (23-6, down three spots). Augustana University and Sioux Falls both finished the regular season with 11 points receiving votes and listed on two or more ballots.

#2 Wayne State College is 29-2 on the season and earned the top-seed and host of the NCAA Central Region Volleyball Tournament. From Rice Auditorium, matches will be played on Friday (noon/2:30/5/7:30 p.m.), Saturday (5/7:30 p.m.) and Sunday (4 p.m.).

WSC will open with #24 Harding of Arkansas in Friday’s first round at 7:30 p.m. The City ‘KCTY’ 98.9/1590 and waynedailynews.com will carry the opening round match for Wayne State with pregame show coverage set for around 7:10 p.m.

The Wildcats suffered an opening round five-set loss to Augustana University in the NSIC Tournament on November 11 while Harding won a four-set match during the Great American Conference finals over Northwestern Oklahoma on November 12.
