Wayne State Basketball Teams Close Regular Season With South Division Showdown

MARSHALL, MN/ SIOUX FALLS, SD – With round one of the 2020 NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament to begin next week, the Wayne State teams are looking to build momentum entering the postseason.

Wayne State College will visit Southwest Minnesota State on Friday, February 21 at 5:30/7:30 p.m. before traveling to Sioux Falls to face the Cougars at 3:30/5:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22.

The Wildcat women have dropped three straight to sit 16-10 overall and are currently in a three-way tie for third at 11-9 with Augustana and Minnesota State-Mankato in league play.

USF secured the #1 seed in the south division at 23-4 overall and 16-4 in league play while the Mustangs are 14-11 (9-11 NSIC/7th South).

Earlier this season, WSC lost to Sioux Falls 78-70 but won 79-62 over SMSU.

 

The Wayne State men will look to snap a four-game losing streak and improve on their 10-19 (7-13 NSIC/6th South) record.

The Cougar men are 20-6 overall (16-4 NSIC/1st South) while Southwest Minnesota State sits 7-19 (4-16 NSIC/8th South).

Right after Christmas break, WSC dropped both early January home contests to Sioux Falls (77-65) and SMSU (62-59).
