WAYNE – Two weekends remain on the schedule for the Wayne State College women’s and men’s basketball teams before conference tourney play begins on Wednesday, February 26.
The final home games of the regular season will be this weekend as WSC will host Concordia-St. Paul on Friday, February 14 before welcoming in Minnesota State-Mankato on Saturday, February 15 for senior day.
The WSC Student Athlete Advisory Committee will also be hosting their “Pie-to-the-Face” event raising money for the Wayne Backpack Program.
For the Wayne State women, they currently sit second in the south division at 11-7 and have a 16-8 overall record.
Concordia-St. Paul is tied for fifth in the NSIC South at 9-9 (12-12 overall) while the Maverick women are one game back from WSC tied for third at 10-8 in conference standings (13-9 overall).
Just three weeks ago, WSC won at CSP 83-74 but lost at Minnesota State-Mankato 79-69.
The Wildcat men had their four-game winning streak snapped last weekend to sit 10-17 (7-11 NSIC/sixth South).
Concordia-St. Paul is 7-15 (5-13 NSIC/seventh South) while the Maverick men open the weekend tied for third in the NSIC South at 11-7 (13-11 overall).
Wayne State swept the road series in late January winning in Mankato, Minnesota (73-71) that snapped a 14-game losing streak to the Mavericks and first win in Mankato since 2012 while also defeating the Golden Bears 66-63.
