Wayne Softball Takes Six-Game Winning Streak Back On Road

SOUTH SIOUX – The Wayne High softball program is off to a 6-1 start and have won six consecutive following a season opening home loss to Blair on August 20.

WHS will visit Class B South Sioux City among their third of four road outings. The Blue Devils topped Bishop Neumann (3-2) and Highway 91 (7-4) earlier this week on Tuesday.

The Cardinals are 2-5 on the season and last went 1-2 during the GACC Tournament this past weekend. South Sioux City suffered losses to Tekamah-Herman twice of 16-1 and 14-0 before snapping a five-game losing streak thanks to an 11-3 win over West Point-Beemer.

Wayne High is the defending Class B state champions with a 35-4 record. South Sioux City dropped down a class this season following a 5-25 Class A record last year. Wayne High posted an 11-1 home victory over the Cardinals last season.

The Wayne High softball team will close out a stretch of four road games on Tuesday, September 8 at Columbus Lakeview. The next home outing will be on Thursday, September 10 welcoming in Tekamah-Herman.
