Wayne Softball Secures 19th Win On Season, 12th Shutout

COLUMBUS – Following a pair of triangular matches earlier this week, the Wayne High softball team took their talents back to the road and battled with a Class A opponent.

From Gerrard Park in Columbus, Wayne High visited the Discoverers.

Wayne High used consistent scoring with a run in four straight innings to lead 4-0. The Blue Devils then tallied two runs in the fifth and three more in the sixth to win 9-0. Wayne improves to 19-0 on the season as Columbus falls to 8-11.

Tori Kniesche paced WHS at the plate with a pair of doubles, a single and RBI as Annie Kniesche added a single, triple and RBI. Sidney Biggerstaff singled twice and drove in a run as Josie Thompson tacked on a single, triple and RBI. Kayla Fleming doubled, Allison Claussen singled, Maysn Dorey singled and drove in a run as Kendall Dorey accounted for a RBI.

Tori Kniesche picked up the win in six innings allowing two hits while striking out 14 batters and walking one.

Wayne High will get a week off of competition before they host the NEN Vipers (Wisner-Pilger, Pender, Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons-Decatur) on Thursday, September 20. The JV contest will open the night at 5 p.m. with Varsity action scheduled for 6:30 p.m. from the Wayne Softball Complex.

Arlington defeated GACC, 7-0

(Wisner-Pilger, Pender, Bancroft-Rosalie/Lyons Decatur) NEN defeated Boone Central/Newman Grove, 5-4

Double Header: Norfolk defeated Lincoln High twice, 4-0 and 7-0.

Triangular:

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder defeated host, South Sioux City, 12-9

Logan View/Scribner-Snyder defeated West Point-Beemer 8-0

West Point-Beemer defeated South Sioux City, 14-4
